An award-winning solar-powered car has made its way to Charlotte!
It’s a sleek-looking piece of machinery called ROSE and it took first place in a 900-mile race that stretched from Missouri to New Mexico.
ROSE stands for Racing On Solar Energy since the car is solar powered. A group of Appalachian State University students are the ones who made it a reality.
Their efforts paid off. The App State team won the 2021 American Solar Challenge, a competition of college teams that build solar-powered cars and race them across the nation.
