CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - If you’re at a beach in the Carolinas over the next several weeks, you may come across a sea turtle nest or two.
Sea turtle nesting season in the Carolinas runs mid-May through August. The loggerhead sea turtle will come ashore to nest three to five times during a nesting year and deposit an average of 120 eggs per nest.
Terry Meyer is the conservation director at The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. She talked with us about what the nests look like, and what people should be doing – or not doing – when they come across one.
