Local restaurant decides to close for dine-in due to new restrictions and the ever-changing political environment.
Starting tonight, restaurants in Mecklenburg County will not be allowed to sell alcohol after 11 pm. The order was passed to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Last night, the owners of 5Church Charlotte announced the restaurant would be closing again for dine-in. Patrick Whalen is one of the owners of 5Church. He sat down with us on QC Morning to talk about this decision. Patrick tells us restaurant owners have tried to achieve two things at the same time. Those two things are trying to achieve a safe work environment for their staff and guests but also stay afloat. He says they dragged their feet on reopening for about a month after they technically could have because neither of the two things could be achieved the way they wanted them to. Now with these new restrictions, the restaurant has decided to sit tight and wait for a better plan.
