I pride myself on being a local just as much as the next person. But there's nothing like the rush of being a tourist in your own backyard. So, why not take a short trip up and be a tourist for a day? Here are five totally touristy things to do in Cabarrus County.
Sea Life Charlotte-Concord Aquarium
Located conveniently inside the Concord Mills Mall, the aquarium is a neat place to spend an afternoon, especially if you’ve never been. With tons of exhibits (and a touch pool!), it’s the kind of tourist activity you can get lost in.
TIP: Order your tickets online and get $5 off admission!

The Dale Trail
Any true racing fan has probably already done this, but those of us who are not so savvy can still have a fun adventure exploring Dale Earnhart’s hometown of Kannapolis. Be sure to check out the 9-foot, 900-pound statue in the center of Kannapolis as well!

Reed Gold Mine
If you don’t think this is cool, then you’re lying. This Midland attraction holds the title for the first place gold was discovered in the United States. Take a tour of the mine for free, and even try your luck at panning for some gold for just a few dollars more.
