Exploring a data-driven art wall located in Charlotte

There is a really unique wall you can now find in the Queen City.

You can find the artwork inside Ally Charlotte Center along South Tryon Street and East Stonewall Street.

It is called Geode.

It’s made up of 32 custom LED digital panel columns.

The art will look different based on what direction you are walking.

The location is important because we’re told the land Ally Charlotte Center stands on today used to be a quarry for the City Rock Crushing Company in the early 1900s.

Even cooler – the colors will change based on actual data from our city.

They also thought the name is fitting because a geode is pretty ordinary-looking on the outside, but when you crack it open, it reveals beautiful crystals and colors
