Ashe County High School celebrates ‘Battle of the Bands’ win

Six local high school marching bands competed, but only one could win.

Battle of the Bands: Every year during the Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade in Charlotte, WBTV has a local high school marching band competition. Out of thousands of viewer votes from around the area, the Ashe County High School Marching Band was voted as best performance during the parade. Their prize? Bragging rights and a turkey trophy!

Band director, Paula Carlton, led the 70-member marching-machine down the mountain from West Jefferson to City Center of the Queen City where they beat out six other local bands in 2019’s WBTV Battle of the Bands

We stopped by Ashe County High School to deliver the turkey trophy and help the students celebrate their sweet victory.

Congrats to Ashe County High School! We had fun delivering the Battle of the Bands trophy they won from the Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade. WATCH tomorrow on QC Morning at 9 a.m. when we bring you their story! You don't want to miss it.
