Balcony workouts a hit at retirement community in Morganton

It’s important to stay active – no matter your age.  One retirement community in Morganton is getting creative in keeping people safe while they exercise – even sending seniors to the balcony for workouts.  Kelly Huggins is the Wellness Manager at Grace Ridge Retirement Community.  She came up with the idea of balcony workouts to get residents outdoors and engaged in fitness.  Kirk Williams is a personal trainer with the Blue Ridge Healthcare System’s Phifer Wellness Center.  He has created balcony and hallway exercises that offer strength and flexibility training for seniors.

Residents seem to love it! Kelly says the regular physical workout sessions are helping residents physically and mentally.
