Fish for Free in North Carolina on This Day Each Year

Who says fishing and fireworks don't go together?

July 4th is typically associated with fireworks, food from the grill and the founding fathers. In North Carolina, though, you can add fishing to the list as well!

Since 1994, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission has supported a Free Fishing Day across the state, where residents and non-residents can fish for one day without purchasing a fishing license. Traditionally, the anglers’ holiday falls on July 4th each year.

While fishers may not need a license, all other limits and restrictions still apply.

If you want to find a place to fish, you can check out the Commission’s fishing and boating maps on its website.
