Program Helps Moms With School-Aged Kids Go To College

"Keep our moms in school!"

A scholarship is helping moms with school-aged children go back to school full-time. WBTV told you about the ANSWER Scholarship in 2018. The founder says a scholarship made it possible for her to get a college education and she chose to focus on moms because of the impact getting an education can have. We also introduced you to a mom of two who graduated with help from ANSWER. She says, “working and taking care of children and going to school, does seem impossible but it really is possible.”

Now with COVID-19 disrupting plans and taking an economic toll on many people, we want to check back in to see how the ANSWER moms, women in our community, are being affected. Martha Honeycutt is the Director of ANSWER Scholarship’s Mentors For Mom program. She sat down with us on QC@3 to talk about how you can help make a difference in these ladies ‘ lives. Martha tells us the wonderful thing about ANSWER is that they not only give out scholarship money, they also provide a mentor that is there to help, encourage, and coach these mothers. ANSWER has also partnered with several community partners within the Charlotte area to help the moms.
