Man cycles 3,500 miles to visit bone marrow centers

Before he bikes his way to the 24 Hours of Booty cycling and walking fundraiser in Myers Park at the end of this month, Bob Falkenberg has a few stops to make.

He hopped on his bike in Minneapolis, Minnesota and plans to ride to Jacksonville, Florida.

Bob isn’t taking the most direct route, though.

He planned the trip so he could stop at bone marrow donation centers along the way.  Bob was diagnosed with acute leukemia in 2009 and a bone marrow stem cell transplant from a total stranger saved his life.

Bob will be back in the QC on July 30 and 31 for the 24 Hours of Booty event.  As he passed through Charlotte the first time, he told us his story.
