Advancing mental health outcomes for racially-diverse communities

Victor Armstrong is the director of the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse Services at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

On QC@3, Victor talked to us about advancing equitable mental health outcomes for racially/ethnically diverse populations.

This year, a mental health summit is in partnership with the UNC Charlotte School of Social Work, Department of Counseling, Urban Education Collaborative, Race and Social Equity Academy and Center for Counseling and Psychological Services. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Rheeda Walker.

Attendees will be equipped with the following concerning racially/ethnically diverse populations:

  • Specific strategies for promoting equitable mental health outcomes
  • Increased knowledge about evidence-based practices
  • Access to inclusive resources to support mental wellness
  • An understanding of implications for education, practice, and intervention
