November is National Lung Cancer Awareness Month. While many people believe it’s a disease that just affects smokers, that’s not actually true. To learn more about this disease, we sat down with Dr. Kathryn Mileham and Mellisa Wheeler at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute.
Dr. Mileham tells us lung cancer is the deadliest cancer of all. She says 1 in 4 cancer deaths are from lung cancer. She says even though smoking still leads to the majority of lung cancer-related deaths in both men and women, there are several non-smokers who can still get lung cancer.
We also talked with Melissa about the newest mobile lung cancer screening unit. Listen to find out what happens inside these units.
