“Local Loaf” Chef creates recipe for Cheerwine poptarts

Hey Cheerwine lovers, this is for you! One local chef has created a Cheerwine poptart. Chef Adam Spears is the owner and executive chef at Local Loaf over in Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood. He joined us on QC@3 to tell us where this delicious idea came from. Chef Spears tells us they’ve been working with Cheerwine ever since they opened. He says they have a chipotle Cheerwine sauce for their chicken in the egg.  Chef Spears says Cheerwine reached out to them asking for something new, they looked around to see what hadn’t been created and one of those things was a Cheerwine poptart. He tells us he already knew how the soda reduces down, so they added it to a local jam for the filling.
