An effort to take something old and turn it into something new has been a huge success in Rock Hill. We are talking about The Pump House restaurant. That transformation has drawn national attention. Our Brian Stephenson paid a visit to this scenic eatery along the Catawba River.
The restaurant was just as its name states, a pump house for a local textile mill for 60 years. After the mill closed, it sat empty until the owners had a vision of what this could be. It took a lot of work to get turn it into a destination restaurant. They used old materials from the original building where they could and even added this spectacular floor to the top. Customers from around the country have put their stamp of approval on the results.
They were even named one of the 100 most scenic restaurants by Open Table. With three floors of dining, whether inside or one of the outdoor areas, it’s hard to find a bad view.
“The cuisine is southern influenced. Modern American cuisine. We use local seasonal ingredients. As local as we can.” – General Manager Christopher Johnson
