CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Have you ever noticed what look like scratches on your back, or maybe your partner’s or your kid’s back?
They don’t hurt, you wouldn’t have even known they were there if you didn’t actually see it.
It turns out it may be more common than you think, especially if you eat mushrooms.
It’s called flagellate erythema and it appears as “whip-like” linear streaks. In addition to eating mushrooms, its second most common cause is after chemotherapy with bleomycin.
Dr. Alyssa Daniel with Novant Health Dermatology Ballantyne joined us to talk more about it.
