CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Of cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the United States, according to the CDC.
More than 150,000 people in the US are diagnosed with colon cancer every year.
Because more young people are being diagnosed with colorectal cancer, as May of 2021, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends that adults with average risk should be screened starting at age 45 (previously was age 50). Those at higher risk may need to be screened even earlier.
Gastroenterologist, Dr. Armit Aravapalli from Tryon Medical Partners joined QC @ 3 to talk about what you can do to prevent the on-site of colon cancer.
Colon cancer is one of the few cancers you can prevent (by getting a colonoscopy). Colorectal cancer screening saves lives.
