MOUNT PLEASANT, N.C. (QC Life) - There’s something about an old-school barbershop.
In Mount Pleasant, they claim to have the oldest one in North Carolina.
It’s on a block that’s seen its fair share of renovations in recent years - old buildings given new life.
For 122 years, customers have been gathering in this barbershop not just to get a haircut but to come together and connect with the community.
The shop experienced several ownership changes but is currently run by Greg Furr, with Bryan Sanders being in charge of the shop during the week.

A couple of years ago, the shop underwent an incredible transformation process, in the course of which bits and pieces of barbering history were discovered including an old barber chair and barber equipment such as hair tonic and some hand clippers.
A lot of people reacted favorably to this walk down memory lane of barbering history and now more than ever the oldest barbershop in the state is buzzing with life.
Need a new haircut? The barbershop is open from Tuesday to Saturday, and you can get a haircut for $19.
