QC Studio — CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - The four-day Cultural Afro-Latinx Celebration festival will run from Thursday, Feb. 8 to Sunday, Feb. 11, and feature Afro-Latinx cuisine, art and free weekend workshops.
Mila Ugueto, founder of La Casa de la Cultura, and Matt Olin with Charlotte is Creative came by the QC studio to talk about the upcoming festival and do a short Afro-Venezuelan drumming demo.
Ugueto and her husband created La Casa de la Cultura, a non-profit organization to teach their culture to community, by participating in festivals like this one or joining creative mornings.
The Cultural Afro-Latinx Celebration will feature artists from all over Central and South America, including Honduras, Guatemala, Peru, Venezuela, Columbia and more.
According to Ugueto, we can look forward to numerous drumming, singing, dancing and other artistic performances and, of course, delicious, traditional food.
Visit their website or watch this video to find out more about the festival and follow them on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date. Tickets for Sunday workshops are available here.
