CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - This is a shout out to all of you thrill-seekers out there!

Season 46 of ‘Survivor’ is premiering today, Wed, Feb. 28, at 8 p.m., and a Charlotte hair stylist and salon owner is one of the contestants.

Kenzi Petty, owner of Explicit Salon in Camp North End and one of the 18 castaways competing on season 46 of ‘Survivor’ joined the show today to talk about her experiences, her strategy, and the hardships she faced.

For those of you who are not familiar with the show, Survivor places a group of strangers in an isolated location, usually the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji, and leaves them to fend for themselves.

Petty said she first got hooked on the show during the pandemic; she watched all 40 seasons and then decided to give it a try herself.

“I think life is an adventure, and there is really no bigger adventure than Survivor, living in the jungle with a bunch of strangers, fighting for a million dollars,” Petty said.

According to Petty, being stripped of all your comforts and grappling with the harsh jungle, you learn a lot about yourself, other people, and how far you can push yourself before you break.

“My plan was to just roll with the punches,” Petty said.

While she said she didn’t have a set-in-stone goal, her survival strategy was to “play dumb” and lull her fellow contestants into a sense of safety and security.

If you would like to know whether her strategy was successful, be sure to tune back in tonight at 8 pm for the 2-hour premiere live on WBTV.
