CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Attention, musical enthusiasts! Blumenthal Arts is bringing the 2024/25 PNC Broadway Lights Season to our QC for the 10th time!

QC Life’s Kristen Miranda sat down with Blumenthal Arts President and CEO Tom Gabbard to get a sneak peek into this year’s exciting lineup.

“We are thrilled to raise the curtain on another incredible season at Blumenthal Arts. With big winners from the 2023 Tony Awards, beloved titles, and new classics, this season will offer something for everyone across a wide spectrum of entertainment,” Gabbard said in a press release.

To give visitors a brief overview of the upcoming shows, Gabbard provided a short description of each production.

“Some like it hot is a classic musical with a fresh contemporary feel to it,” Gabbard said.

“A great catalogue of music,” ‘A beautiful noise’ is a fantastic depiction of Neil Diamond, his work as well as his kind personality, according to Gabbard.

Gabbard found ‘Parade’ to be a very moving show, addressing a challenging but very important theme.

“It looks back historically well over a hundred years, and yet the issues that it deals with sadly are as timely as ever,” Gabbard said.

A relatively unknown and new musical, Gabbard encouraged theater lovers to go and watch Kimberly Akimbo, which tells the story of a young girl with a rare condition that causes her to age rapidly.

“There is a pun every couple of seconds; people need to prepare to laugh a lot and consider dressing up,” Gabbard told our Kristen Miranda about the new comedy musical ‘Shucked’.

Life of Pi does not only impress with its musical performance but also with its savvy appliance of life-sized puppets instead of actual animals along with its creative use of digital imaginary.

“The artistry of how these puppets are manipulated is absolutely extraordinary,” Gabbard said.

And last but not least, Hamilton is returning to the Belk Theater stage.

“Some people just can’t get enough of it,” Gabbard said.
