CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - The annual Charlotte SHOUT! festival is returning to the QC from March 29 to April 14.

So, we invited Justin Pierce, the Arts Education Director for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to the studio to tell us about how they plan to contribute to the festivities.

Tim Miner with Charlotte is Creative also joined the show to keep us in the loop about Charlotte’s creative scene.

As a continuation of last year’s initiative, arts teachers will paint the SHOUT! letters again. However, this time they won’t be doing it alone but in collaboration with their students, according to Pierce.

In addition to that, they will host the K-12 Visual Arts Education SHOUT! Exhibition at 200 South College Street from March 19 through April 14.

Visitors can also look forward to an interactive reception on Friday, April 12 from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring window and chalk drawing, a projection mapping room, live Rugtufting, refreshments and many other exciting activities.

What’s more, over 200 works from 50+ schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg will be on display during the show.

Pierce said, performing arts enthusiasts are welcome to join them on Saturday, April 13 for the L-12 CMS Performing Arts Day as well for dance, band and orchestral music and musical theater performances.

“In 2024, it has to be all about opportunities for our kids,” Pierce said.

“Art is something you can do for the rest of your life, whether it’s an avocation or a vocation,” Miner added.
