Halli Gomez with Park Road Books came by the studio today to give us the details of this year’s Greater Charlotte Book Crawl, a month-long event from April 1 to April 30.
She also brought three new releases to check out along with her, ‘James’ by Percival Everett, ‘The Princess of Las Vegas’ by Chris Bohjalian and ‘Sylvia’s Second Act’ by Hillary Yablon.
Launched in April 2022, the event seeks to shine a light on Charlotte’s bookstores, celebrate its unique and growing Indie book scene, and offer bookworms an opportunity to connect with fellow readers.
“Book lovers meeting book lovers. It doesn’t get better than that,” Gomez said.

According to Gomez, there will be 19 participating bookstores across the Charlotte area, including Gaston County, Cabarrus County, Rock Hill, Belmont, Mt Holly, Concord, and Salisbury.
Booklovers can pick up a Greater Charlotte Book Crawl, GCBC, passport at all the different locations and earn a new stamp with each visit to a participating bookstore.
At the end of the month, ‘Finishers’ with a full passport, who stopped by all 19 of them, will receive a special edition GCBC tote bag with the book crawl logo. They can also enter in a drawing to win one of three grand prizes, namely gift cards from various bookstores.
What’s more, Gomez brought our attention to an initiative, organized by the area non-profit ‘Promising Pages’ who collect brand new or gently used books and donate them to kids with limited access to reading materials.

Collector bins will be available at each of the locations and GCBC participants are encouraged to contribute to the initiative.
