CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Over the last few years there has been a lot of talk about growing women’s sports.

Much of that talk is about basketball, thanks to the Caitlin Clarks and Angel Reeses of the world. A sport that isn’t talked about as much is ice hockey.

While the number of girls playing hockey is going up, there is still a long way to go. Experts say only 9.6% of hockey players in the United States are women.

QC Life’s Jorge Andres visited the Extreme Ice Center, a skating rink that is working to boost those numbers, to learn more and tried his hand at hitting the ice himself.
