CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - The inside of Metrolina Greenhouses is both beautiful and impressive to look at.

More than 200 hundred acres of flowers and plants sit inside the greenhouses, beyond anything the VanWingerden family could have imagined when they immigrated from Holland in 1972 to start the business.

Back then, 5,000 plants were shipped out from one small greenhouse 52 years ago.

All these years later, the company sells 70 million plants and serves about 1,500 retail outlets up and down the east coast.

The QC Life team got a chance to go inside and learn more about the family’s story.
