CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Queen City is receiving some high praise, coming in at No. 5 on the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Place to Live” list.
The list ranks 150 of the best cities to live in, all across the United States. Cities were given an overall score, a quality of life score and a value score. The methodology can be found here.
“A charming yet sprawling Southern city, Charlotte is a pleasant urban area...within a few hours’ drive of both the Appalachian Mountains and North Carolina’s white sand beaches,” a synopsis of the city read. “Charlotte takes pride in its cityscape, defined by a handful of skyscrapers. But the city’s essence is perhaps better captured in its diverse neighborhoods and suburban areas, each of which has its own style and flair.”
The synopsis also made note of Charlotte’s reputation as a major banking hub, citing it as the second-largest in the country, and a reason for the city’s consistent population growth.
Greenville, S.C., and Raleigh also made the top 10, coming in fourth and sixth, respectively.
