CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - When the school year ends, there is always a concern about the “summer slide.”

That’s when students forget what they have learned during the school year. If you can keep them reading, though, that can help prevent the slide.

QC Life’s Jorge Andres visited the Allegra Westbrooks Regional Library on Beatties Ford Road to learn about the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library’s “Summer Break” reading initiative.

Through the Summer Break program, participants of all ages are encouraged to read at least 20 minutes per day and be involved in other learning activities.
