Kannapolis, N.C. (QC Life) - The Kannapolis Police Department takes caring for their officers’ mental health to the next step by introducing a therapy dog program.
Lt. Justin Smith from the KPD joined our show to introduce Millie, the department’s new therapy dog.
Millie, a 5-month-old Bernedoodle, was donated to the department by Dunkin Doodles in Waxhaw. Her sister was donated to the CMPD.
Millie and Smith will begin an 8-week AKC Certified Therapy Dog training course this month. She will then accompany him to the department and be available to help any member deal with difficult incidents or just to ease some day-to-day stress. Once training is complete, Millie will be at community events and around City Hall.
