CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Take advantage of summer in Charlotte with these events happening around town this weekend.

Back to the Future: The Musical (Belk Theater), opening weekend: Great Scott! Hop on the DeLorean and blast off to 88 mph for an adventure live on stage. Based on the 1985 classic starring Michael J. Fox, the musical, which is currently playing to sold-out audiences on Broadway, has made its way to the Queen City. Join Marty McFly and Doc Brown on a race against time on a time-traveling DeLorean. Tickets start at $35.

Christmas in July with Charlotte Knights (Truist Field), through Sunday: We may be in the dog days of summer, but it’s Christmas in July with the Charlotte Knights. All weekend long, the Knights will be taking on the Durham Bulls and each day comes with some special activities. Thursday is Upside Down night and on Friday it’s Witches & Wizards night. Then on Saturday, the first 1,500 fans will get 2024 Knights snow globes. Plus, on Sunday Santa and Mrs. Claus make a visit! Tickets start at $16.

Charlotte Black Pride (various locations), opening weekend: Celebrate Charlotte’s thriving LGBTQIA+ community in an inclusive atmosphere. The party kicks off on Saturday with an ART POP Kiki Ball followed by the Charlotte Black Pride Pageant on Sunday. Make sure to check out the schedule to see all the exciting events.

Charlotte Block Party & Market (Lost Worlds Brewing Metropolitan), Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Soak in that summer feeling with a block party filled with fun activities. Check out the vendor market stuffed with local artists selling unique art, jewelry and more. You can even be the artist by taking part in the chalk art display. The DJ will be spinning all your favorites from the 70s and 80s all afternoon long. Admission is free.

Charlotte Water Lantern Festival (Symphony Park), Saturday 6 to 10 p.m.: Take a moment to reflect on life and love in a beautiful ceremony where hundreds of illuminous lanterns flicker through the lake at Symphony Park. Decorate your lantern to remember loved ones, hopes and dreams, or to show gratitude and watch it float among your community’s lanterns. Tickets are $28.33 online or $55.99 at the door.

Nikki Glaser (Ovens Auditorium), Saturday 7 and 9:30 p.m.: She brought the house down on Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady, now watch her live in her new special “Alive and Unwell.” Known for her shockingly honest comedy, the comedian and podcast host is ready to bring all the laughs to the Queen City. Tickets start at $29.75. Limited ticket availability.

CONMEBOL Copa America Third Place Match (Bank of America Stadium), Saturday 8 p.m.: After an exciting semi-final right here in Charlotte where Colombia defeated Uruguay, Uruguay gets their second chance to make the finals as they take on Canada in the third-place match. A limited number of tickets are still available. Tickets start at $135.

Summer Fest (Charlotte Regional Farmers Market), Sunday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Celebrate all things local with the bounty of produce that makes our city so great. Enjoy free watermelon slices, peach samples, tomato sandwiches and corn recipe cards. Learn something new to do in the kitchen at the cooking demos utilizing local meat and produce. Plus, find out how to be a pro at the grill with some of North Carolina’s greatest pitmasters. Admission is free.

Janet Jackson (PNC Music Pavilion), Sunday 8 p.m.: It’s Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty. The celebrated Grammy Award-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is on the road for the Together Again tour, honoring her decades-spanning career of hits. From “Rhythm Nation” to “Doesn’t Really Matter,” relive the music that was the soundtrack to the lives of many. Tickets start at $41.75.
