CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Sleep greatly affects a child’s learning performance at school. Make sure your child is getting the sleep they need by trying this back-to-school sleep routine.
Dr. Carlos Paxtor, a pediatrician at Carolina Pediatrics, shared why it is important for kids to get enough sleep during the upcoming school year.
Here are a few reasons why sleep is important, according to Paxtor:
- Sleep influences behavior and attention spans
- Lack of sleep can affect mental health
- Lack of sleep is a big factor in dementia, Alzheimer’s and mental illness
If you are worried about your child’s sleep schedule before school, Paxtor recommends practicing a good sleep schedule two weeks before school starts. Aim for 8-10 hours of sleep per night.
