CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Sleep greatly affects a child’s learning performance at school. Make sure your child is getting the sleep they need by trying this back-to-school sleep routine.

Dr. Carlos Paxtor, a pediatrician at Carolina Pediatrics, shared why it is important for kids to get enough sleep during the upcoming school year.

  • Sleep influences behavior and attention spans
  • Lack of sleep can affect mental health
  • Lack of sleep is a big factor in dementia, Alzheimer’s and mental illness

If you are worried about your child’s sleep schedule before school, Paxtor recommends practicing a good sleep schedule two weeks before school starts. Aim for 8-10 hours of sleep per night.
