Fast and furious...downhill The Gravity Mountain Bike National Championship kicks off this week.

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (QC Life) - Nearly 1,000 bikers are in Henderson County this week for USA Cycling’s 2024 Gravity Mountain Bike National Championship.

The event, which runs from July 31-Aug. 4, involves:

  • Going downhill as quickly and smoothly as possible.
  • Relying on gravity to move you forward.
  • Steep and technical courses.
  • Focusing on speed and adrenaline over endurance.

Before the bikers arrived in Henderson County, QC Life got a sneak preview of the course at Ride Rock Creek and learned what the sport is all about.

There are several different racing divisions, from beginner to professional, and from downhill to dual slaloms.

In addition to the races, there will also be a freestyle competition on Saturday, Aug. 3.
