CONCORD, N.C. (QC Life) - If you got a cup of coffee from a restaurant this morning, there’s a good chance it was roasted in Concord. The Westrock Coffee plant in Concord prepares and serves almost 20 million cups of coffee per day.
Thousands of coffee beans pour into the Westrock Coffee Plant every day. And pre-shipped samples must pass a “cupping” test before they can be roasted in one of five of the plant’s giant roasters.
The beans are roasted in such a way so that the taste remains the same every time you go to your favorite restaurant.
Some of the roasted beans return to the cupping room for a quality-controlled tasting.
The beans are then cooled, sorted, and packaged before being shipped.
