Chatting with local children’s author Roxanne Falls Falls recently published the book, “Disgusting Dinner.”

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - A children’s author from the Queen City joined the show to talk about her newly released book.

Roxanne Falls, author of “Disgusting Dinner,” discussed the summary of the book, as well as how it helps teach young readers that they are not alone in the world.

Falls said she wanted to show kids with hearing loss that they are represented, and specifically asked her illustrator to draw one of the characters with hearing devices. The witch, named Ember, has a hearing aid on one ear, and a cochlear implant on the other.

While “Disgusting Dinner” teaches the readers they are represented, the story is not about that. Instead, Ember simply represents inclusion. Similarly, the ghost in the story wears glasses.
