Yiasou Greek Festival (Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral), Friday to Sunday: 600 East Boulevard transforms into Greece for one weekend only. Stop on by one of Charlotte’s largest cultural events back for its 46th year. Enjoy the sights, sounds and flavors of Greece with cultural exhibits, authentic cuisine, traditional live entertainment and more. Highlights include the baklava, baklava sundaes and a wide variety of meats and vegetables. Admission is $5.
Cabarrus County Fair (Cabarrus Arena & Events Center), opening Friday: Just a short drive up north and you will enter the “Land of Sugar and Smiles,” this year’s theme for the annual community fair. Hop on family-favorite carnival rides, win prizes at the midway and indulge in the sweet treats that the fair is known for. You’ll also find shows like K9’s in Flight and Robinson’s Racing Pigs. Admission is $8 for 12 and over, $6 for ages 6 to 11, free for 5 and under.
Chef’s Best 2024 (Charlotte Convention Center), Friday 6 p.m.: Benefitting the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, this annual fundraiser whips up exciting dishes from some of the most prominent chefs in the country. This year’s featured celebrity chef is Top Chef All-Stars winner Richard Blais. Along with the upscale food, you’ll also enjoy great beverages, live entertainment, a silent auction and raffle. It’s a culinary experience you won’t want to miss.
RENT (Booth Playhouse), Friday to Saturday: Are you ready to live “La Vie Bohème”? Get transported to the East Village of New York City in this new immersive staging of Jonathan Larson’s RENT. In this production staged by Queen City Concerts, the actors will come to life around the audience. Three shows only. Tickets start at $18.

Carolina Coaster Classic (Carowinds), Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Get ready to feel the rush with rollercoaster enthusiasts from all around the country. From Copperhead Strike all the way to the award-winning Fury 325, check off the list and hit every coaster in the park with fellow adrenaline junkies. Prices vary.
SuperMotocross World Championship (zMAX Dragway), Saturday 2:30 p.m.: Get ready to rip some dirt as some of the world’s best racers ride extreme tracks. Combining elements from Supercross and Pro Motocross, watch the precision, speed and endurance for the playoff opener right here in Charlotte. Tickets start at $35.
Duke’s Mayo Classic (Bank of America Stadium), Saturday 5 p.m.: NC State University will take on the University of Tennessee for an exciting regional match up featuring two great southern college football teams. This will be the fourth time that NC State and Tennessee battle it out for the classic. Tickets start at $90.
Boyz II Men (PNC Music Pavilion), Saturday 7:30 p.m.: The Grammy Award-winning crooners who dominated R&B in the 90s with their hits “One Sweet Day” and “I’ll Make Love To You,” among many others, are back in the Queen City. Relive the songs that defined a generation with the group’s iconic harmonies and smooth sounds. Tickets start at $40.
Disney’s The Lion King (Belk Theater), closing Sunday: It’s your last chance to come relive the “Circle of Life” in Disney’s smash-hit musical that continues to break box office records on Broadway. From the songs you love like “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” to the creative puppetry that has dazzled millions of audiences worldwide, Disney’s The Lion King is still the musical that roars above the rest. Tickets start at $35.
