CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - When you think of Charlotte, NASCAR and racing immediately come to mind. This Saturday, Red Bull is celebrating the Queen City’s rich NASCAR history in its own unique way: with the Red Bull Non-Stock 600. Held at the AvidXchange Music Factory, this event promises high-energy excitement as 20 teams race go-karts with custom designs of their own creation. It’s a unique twist on traditional racing, with Charlotte’s creativity and love for speed on full display.
Among the competitors gearing up for the race are the 49ers Racing Team, a group of ambitious students from UNC Charlotte’s Motorsports program. These aspiring engineers and drivers are using their classroom knowledge to tackle real-world racing challenges, hoping that experiences like the Red Bull Non-Stock 600 will propel them toward careers on major racetracks. From vehicle dynamics to team strategy, the students are bringing their motorsports skills to life on the go-kart track, making this event more than just a race—it’s a stepping stone for future NASCAR and motorsport professionals.
The QC Life team will be ripping up the course this Saturday, too. We were so excited to compete, we dedicated the entire QC@3 show previewing the event.
In the first segment, we gave you a sneak peek at the QC Life custom-built go-cart.
During segment 2, we learned what it means to be a Red Bull athlete, and found out how judges will be picking the winners.
