CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - The Lady Aces of Fort Mill was created by Catherine Heriot and Rion Heriot after identifying a gap in AAU offerings locally for young girls. As former athletes and now parents, their goal is to encourage players to develop strong relationships on and off the court through compassion, hard work, integrity, and focused skill training.
They aim to build a supportive and high-level team structure for athletes who want to continue their basketball training outside of the standard high school season, but on a local level. Most players wanting to play AAU/travel ball (which is necessary for college recruiting opportunities) have had to travel outside of Fort Mill to seek the additional training. Both Catherine and husband Rion grew up in Fort Mill playing sports and are now excited to be part of this growth. Coach Rion is also a police officer and emphasizes the importance of having a community of your own as a young person. The Lady Aces are in their first season and gearing up for their first tournament this weekend where they will compete against teams from around the country.
