Here’s a list of things to do the weekend of May 9-11, 2025:
MONOPOLY LIFESIZED: Travel Edition (Blume Studios), opening weekend: It’s game time! The classic board game gets a life-sized upgrade in this new immersive experience at Blume Studios. With similar gameplay to an escape room, this family-friendly game is an hour-long of fast-paced fun. See familiar properties like Boardway, Park Place and Water Works and avoid the dread “Go to Jail” card in this larger-than-life adventure. Tickets start at around $20 with discounts available for groups.
UniverSoul Circus (Route 29 Pavilion), opening weekend: The big top is back near the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Catch the high-octane and interactive show that’s been seen by over 25 million fans. Combining circus acts with a cross of genres, theatricality and music, it’s the show that has families coming back year after year. You won’t want to miss the wheel of death, the Havana night skaters, the Zhukau swing and so much more. Shows run Thursdays through Sundays until May 18. Tickets start at $38.

Matthews Summerfest (Stumptown Park), Friday and Saturday: BeachFest is now SummerFest! The annual seasonal celebration returns for its 17th year, but its first under its new name - a way to include even more genres of music as the festival has gotten bigger over the years. Enjoy the live sounds of The Catalinas, Spiderwebs, Blackwater Band, Captain Mike & the Shipwrecked and more. You’ll also find a carnival, street food, local vendors and craft beer. SummerFest is open 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.
HEARTest Yard + Showmars 5K (Atrium Health Myers Park), Saturday 8 a.m.: Join Panthers legend Greg Olsen and his family for the 9th annual HEARTest Yard + Showmars 5K. You’ll run around Myers Park in an effort to raise funds for children affected by congenital heart diseases and disorders. For an additional donation, you can even grab breakfast with Greg. Proceeds benefit the Levine Children’s Hospital. Registration is $35.
Mecklenburg 250 Festival (Elizabeth Park), Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Celebrate Captain Jack’s legendary ride to Philadelphia as the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence celebrates its 250th anniversary. Hosted by the Trail of History and Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation, this festival brings together history, culture and community with live programming and educational exhibits, live music, food and drinks. Admission is free.
Kaleidoscope Fest (Downtown Park Waxhaw), Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Every Mother’s Day weekend, the community of Waxhaw holds a spring festival featuring a wide variety of arts and cultures from around the world. Enjoy live music all day long at the main stage, get face painting or henna tattoos, or take part in the community art project. If you haven’t bought mom anything yet for Mother’s Day, now’s your chance to grab a last minute find from over 70 local vendors at the gift market featuring homemade designs, art and goods. Admission is free.
Meck Mile (Memorial Stadium), Saturday 1 p.m.: Run, walk, skip or dance your way in and around one of Charlotte’s most historic stadiums. The Meck Mile is a race for everyone and for all levels. From an untimed recreational race to competitive timed heats, and even a kids dash, the Meck Mile is a great way to bring the community together. After your mile, enjoy the post-race festivities with live music, beer garden, food vendors, a kid’s zone and plenty of vendors. Proceeds benefit the Charlotte Sports Foundation. Registration prices vary by race-type and start at $35.

Wine Festival (Ballantyne Village), Saturday 1 to 5 p.m.: Shop and stroll your way through Ballantyne Village as you sip samples from a large selection of local, regional and national wines in this unique wine festival. Once you find your favorite wine, you’ll have a chance to purchase those bottles for a discount. Along the selection of shops and restaurants at Ballantyne Village, there will also be local vendors and live music to enjoy. 21 and over only. General admission starts at $30 online and includes eight tastings plus a souvenir tasting glass.
Mother’s Day at Birkdale Village, Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Treat mom (and dog moms!) to an afternoon all about her at this free event as part of the Birkdale Village Commons Market that happens every second Sunday of the month. Pick up a gift at the market where you’ll find over 30 curated vendors offering unique finds like handmade jewelry, vintage décor and fun fashion. Head on over from noon to 1 p.m. to get free professional photos at the custom Mother’s Day balloon display. A live DJ will keep the vibes up all afternoon. Admission is free.
