Youth Concert Series Puts Charlotte’s Young Talent Center Stage

YOUTH CONCERT SERIES

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - The Youth Concert Series, created by Joanne Rogers (Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery) and Claude Whitfield (Backpinz Academy), is a youth-led music and arts program launching this July at the VAPA Center. Developed in partnership with student mentees, the program gives Charlotte youth (17 & under) hands-on experience in planning, producing, and performing in live concerts.

With guidance from Rogers and Whitfield, mentees like DJLux (age 12) and co-producers Adam Refaey and Kingston Price are learning to build sustainable businesses, grow their networks, and take creative control. The concerts feature varied music genres, live art, and youth-run vendor booths.

This Thursday at 3 p.m., Tim Miner will spotlight one of the youth participants and share more about this empowering new series, which blends mentorship with real-world leadership opportunities for young creatives.
