Here’s a list of things to do the weekend of June 20-22, 2025:

Heroes Convention (Charlotte Convention Center), Friday to Sunday: Calling all masked crusaders and comic book enthusiasts, one of the largest comic conventions returns for its annual gathering of artists, fans and creators. Show off your best cosplay at the daily masquerade and check out Artist Alley for incredible illustrators you can meet. Check out one of the many panels or workshops like comics editing 101 with legendary comic editor Shelly Bond or explore Fantastic Four Through the Years. Three-day badges start at $75 or single-day passes are available for $35.

Juneteenth Rock Hill (several locations), Friday to Sunday: Celebrate freedom all weekend long with a trio of events and fun for the whole family. On Friday, head to Fountain Park for the kickoff of Food Truck Fridays where you’ll find delicious bites from your favorite restaurants on wheels. Head to Clinton College on Saturday for the Juneteenth Freedom Fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Mt. Prospect Baptist Church on Sunday for a special Sunday Service beginning at 11:15 a.m. Admission is free.

Fire Truck Festival (North Carolina Transportation Museum), Saturday 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: It’s the hottest event of the year. Take your little firefighters in training to meet the real heroes saving lives every day. Get up close to the equipment they use including the jaws of life. Come dressed and enter the lil’ firefighter costume contest for prizes. The day ends with the family favorite fire truck parade. Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for children 3-12.

Juneteenth Celebration (West Charlotte High School), Saturday 2 to 6 p.m.: Celebrate unity in Charlotte’s historically Black corridor by honoring the legacy of West Fest. Enjoy live performances all afternoon long including the return of the iconic dance competition. Stick around for giveaways, a kids corner, seniors’ lounge and plenty of fun. Admission is free.

Durag Festival (Blackbox Theater), Saturday 2 to 10 p.m.: It’s the Juneteenth celebration that’s highlighting Black creativity and innovation and it’s bigger than ever. Check out this year’s lineup including artist TiaCorine, Eastside Brotha, Loren Lai, DJ Bri Mafia and so much more. Indulge in the festival’s curated food hall with food and pop-ups by the city’s best Black-owned restaurants. You’ll want to dress your best for all the IG-worthy experiences and viral competitions. General admission tickets begin at $49.

FIFA Club World Cup (Bank of America Stadium), Sunday 3 p.m.: History will be made as the Queen City hosts one of the first ever FIFA Club World Cup matches. 32 of the best clubs in the world will play across 12 stadiums in the United States as they battle it out for the official title of FIFA Club World Champions. For the first Charlotte game, Real Madrid will take on Pachuca in this exciting new tournament. Tickets start at $209.60.

Charlotte Symphony Summer Pops (Symphony Park), Sunday 8:15 p.m.: Summertime means live music under the stars. Enjoy a riveting performance by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra for the next Summer Pops. This weekend, enjoy the beat of Latin Sounds. Dance the night away with the energy and passion of legendary Latin composers. WBTV’s First Alert Weather is the official weather partner of Summer Pops. Admission is $15 for adults, $5 for youth 13-18, free for children 12 and under.

Charlotte Squawks (Booth Playhouse), ongoing: If you love Charlotte, you’ll love the 20th anniversary of Charlotte Squawks. From pop culture to politics, sports and everything in between, Charlotte Squawks will get you laughing with musical parodies and laugh out loud skits with some of the biggest stories from the last year. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. this weekend. Tickets start at $39.61.

Charlotte Knights vs. Gwinett Stripers (Truist Field), through Sunday: It’s another week of exciting games in Uptown for our Knights as they take on the Gwinett Stripers again on our home turf. On Friday, the first 1,000 fans get a Homer the Dragon tux bobblehead and fireworks light the Charlotte sky. Then, on Saturday, the first 1,500 kids will get a replica jersey of the night’s game and adults fans can bid on game-worn jerseys, benefiting Levine Children’s Hospital. Then end your weekend with Sunday Family Funday. Tickets start at $20.
