Here’s a list of things to do the weekend of Aug. 29-31, 2025:
Cirque du Soleil: OVO (Bojangles Coliseum), through Sunday: Discover the wondrous world of insects in a Cirque du Soleil classic: OVO. Discover the beauty of these tiny creatures through high-flying acrobatic acts, aerial stunts and gravity-defying magic that you can only find with Cirque du Soleil. One weekend only with front row seats now available. Tickets start at $66.
Duke’s Mayo Classic (Bank of America Stadium), Friday 7 p.m.: The Appalachian State Mountaineers will take on the UNC Charlotte 49ers for an exciting regional match up at the home of the Carolina Panthers. Fans with or without tickets can enjoy Fan Fest right outside the stadium beginning at 1 p.m. Who will get drenched in the mayo bath this year? Find out at Bank of America Stadium. Tickets start at $87.15.

Matthews Alive (Downtown Matthews, NC), Friday to Monday: Every year, the Matthews community gets together for one of its largest festivals over 50 years strong. Over 100,000 people fill the streets for a weekend of good music, food, music and fun. Bring the family for carnival rides, food trucks, vendors and a parade. Don’t miss performances by the Tina Turner Tribute ft. Debby Holiday, the Carolina Barnburners and Don Jovi the Bon Jovi Tribute. Admission is free.
Labor Day Celebration (Whitewater Center), Saturday & Sunday: If you’re looking for a more adventurous way to celebrate Labor Day, head to the Whitewater Center for a jam-packed weekend of activities. From trail races to yoga for all levels, as well as all the regular fun that the center provides like rafting, climbing and the wildwoods. Enjoy live music all weekend from Jesse Roper as well as The Psycodelics. Admission is free with activity passes available for purchase.
Belmont Bookshop’s Literary Festival (Downtown Belmont), Saturday 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Story lovers can unite at a festival tailored to even the fondest of bookworms. Celebrate literary classics and unfold new adventures at this brand-new event for all ages. Enjoy live author readings, panel discussions and book signings. Meet authors like Mazey Eddings, Ali Hazelwood, Nikki Payne and Libby Hubscher. General admission is free with entrance charges for author panels and VIP bookshop experiences.
Mimosa Land Festival (Romare Bearden Park), Saturday noon to 10 p.m.: What’s more perfect than weekend brunch? A festival all about the best part of it: mimosas. Grab your lawn chair and head to the central Uptown park for all things bubbly. You’ll find great music, tons of food trucks, and, of course, plenty of mimosas. Tickets start at $47.65 and your first mimosa is free. Two sessions available: noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m.
K-POP Stan Fest (Urban District Market), Saturday 1 to 6 p.m.: Calling all K-POP fans. Do you know all the latest dance moves from BLACKPINK or did you just watch KPop Demon Hunters? Now’s your chance to meet and mingle with fellow fans at the first ever “all things K-Pop” festival. You can catch live performances every hour and meet local fandoms. There will be a curated market with fan merch, as well as DIY stations, trading, a stamp rally and more. Admission is free.

Around the Crown 10K (Truist Field), Sunday 7:30 a.m.: It’s a Charlotte Labor Day tradition running around Uptown with your neighbors. This year, a brand-new expo will kick off the weekend on Truist Field. Here you can find local sponsors, yoga, running and more before the big race. Then, on Sunday, start at Truist Field and run up I-277 where you’ll get a picturesque view of the Queen City during sunrise. Then, stick around for the post race party at NoDa Brewing. Registration starts at $71.53.
Charlotte Labor Day Parade (Tryon Street in Uptown), Monday 11 a.m.: Join the fun for a good old-fashioned parade to commemorate Labor Day. With beautiful floats, marching bands, city groups and more, enjoy a fun afternoon Uptown while learning all about workers’ rights. The parade runs on North Tryon St. from 9th Street through 3rd Street and is free to watch.
