Here’s a list of things to do the weekend of Sept. 12-14, 2025:
Beetlejuice (Belk Theater), Thursday to Sunday: We must have said his name three times because the ghost with the most is back to haunt the Queen City. Tim Burton’s beloved classic comes to life in a Broadway spectacular filled with tricks, treats and special effects, plus hilarious new fun songs to immerse audiences into the Netherworld. This is the last stop of the national tour before this production heads back to Broadway for a limited run. Tickets start at $39.76.
Panda Fest (Ballantyne’s Backyard), Friday to Sunday: One of the largest outdoor Asian food festivals in the country is coming to Charlotte. Over 200 Asian street food vendors will take over Ballantyne’s Backyard where you can find every type of dumpling imaginable, noodles from around the world, unique desserts and so much more. You can also catch cultural performances and over 30 vendors selling gifts and merchandise. Admission starts at $14 and comes with two free gifts.

SCarowinds (Carowinds), opening Friday: When the sun sets earlier and the wind brings an extra chill, fearful fun arises at Carowinds. With five hair-raising mazes, four scare zones and hundreds of monsters lurking around every corner of the park, experience the Carolinas’ premier Halloween event running through November 2nd. This year, experience the newest interactive maze: The Conjuring: Beyond Fear, an upcharged small-group haunt based off of The Conjuring Universe. Admission to SCarowinds starts at $55, or purchase a haunted attraction pass as an add-on to your daily ticket or season pass. Check the Carowinds website for full details and schedules.
Charlotte Brunch Festival (The Iron District), Saturday noon to 4 p.m.: The best meal of the week is getting the festival treatment. From pancakes to mimosas, delight in gourmet bites for purchase, art installations, live music and vendors for an unforgettable brunch experience. Admission is $7 and free for children 12 and under.
Lowcountry Culture Festival (Shoppes at University Place), Saturday 1 to 6 p.m.: Experience the Lowcountry right here in Charlotte. Take a sip of some authentic she-crab soup or watch basket weavers create works of art in front of your very eyes. Celebrate the unique topography and biodiversity of South Carolina’s coast and learn all about the history of Gullah Geechee. Tickets start at $54 and include unlimited food and drink samples along with a souvenir glass.
Jollof Festival (Johnson C. Smith University), Saturday 3 to 8 p.m.: It’s all about the beloved West African dish for this festival. Feast on some of the best Jollof dishes Charlotte has to offer while enjoying live Afrobeat music, chef demonstrations and fun activities. Vote for your favorite bites and see who takes home this year’s “Jollof Rice Champion.” Admission starts at $24.86.
Bands, Brews & BBQ (Downtown Moorseville), Saturday 4 to 9 p.m.: The triple B is back for its second year and bigger than ever. The pits are smoking up succulent slow-roasted meats from 25 regional food trucks. Learn the secrets of award-winning BBQ from the pitmasters themselves. Wash it all down from a wide selection of beers from your favorite local breweries. Night Ranger and Jefferson Starship will headline the main stage along with a lineup of local bands. Admission is free.

CLTure Day + Night Market (The Iron District), Sunday noon: Celebrate Charlotte’s diverse Asian community with a brand-new festival filled with food, arts and entertainment. You’ll find delicious bites from local favorites like Banh Mi Brothers, SipCha, VJ’s Chicken Inasal and more. Enjoy cultural performances, fan and kite making, games and plenty of art by Asian artists in our community. Admission is free.
Nelly with Ja Rule (PNC Music Pavilion), Sunday 7:30 p.m.: “Country Grammar” rapper Nelly is bringing the party to the Queen City. The “Where The Party At” Tour is coming to the PNC Music Pavilion where it’s sure to get “Hot in Herre.” No party is complete without friends and Nelly’s bringing some of his best friends including St. Lunatics, Ja Rule and Chingy. Tickets start at $54.50.
