CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - It’s the busy season for apple growers! North Carolina is home to more than 200 orchards. Many of them, including Holt Orchards, are located in Henderson County. The county ranks among the top 20 apple-producing counties in America. The United States grows 2,500 different types of apples, part of more than 7,500 varieties worldwide.
Holt Orchards operates as a boutique orchard using sustainable growing practices. They offer apple varieties different from those typically found in grocery stores, including Crimson Crisp, EverCrisp, Jonagold and Ambrosia. Popular varieties like Granny Smith are also available.
Fresh-pressed apple cider and apple cider doughnuts are featured products at the orchard. The farm store provides apple products and other specialty items. You know we had to give it a try!
