CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Adorable pets are getting a second chance — but local shelters need your help. Shelters are full right now, and fostering a cat or dog over the holidays can make a huge difference for animals who need space, love, and a cozy place to heal.
Donations to the Season of Second Chances campaign are changing animals’ lives every day. Gifts made now through Dec. 31 go into a flex fund that supports urgent needs: medical care, food, medications, treats, and anything else required to get pets healthy and ready for their forever homes.
Veterinarian Dr. Joselyn tells us about Lady, a black lab mix, as an example. After being hit by a car she needed a tail amputation. Thanks to the medical fund, she had surgery, healed well, and just had her stitches removed — she’s now healthy and ready to find her forever family.
Fostering is a wonderful way to bring an animal into your home for the season. Shelters provide all the supplies you’ll need, and foster families give pets invaluable socialization and comfort while they wait for adoption.
Want to help? Consider donating to the Season of Second Chances before Dec. 31 or sign up to foster a pet — your support gives animals a shot at a happier tomorrow! To support, visit www.charlottenc.gov/Animal-Care-and-Control and follow @animals_clt.
