CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - When Apple Original Films set out to make the most authentic Formula 1 movie ever, they turned to someone who knew racing inside and out.
Luciano Bacheta, the 2012 Formula 2 champion, took on the massive task of training Brad Pitt and Damson Idris to drive like pros — and making sure every racing sequence looked real on screen.
F1: The Movie, which premiered globally on Apple TV+ on December 12, has become a massive hit. Since its theatrical release in June, it debuted as the number one movie at the global box office and has grossed over $630 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing sports film of all time.
Bacheta, who also received a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Stunt Design, worked alongside fellow stunt driver Craig Dolby to train the actors. The film was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, among others.
