CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - QC Life host Jana Angel chats with Katherine Legge, a fan-favorite known worldwide for her versatility and persistence across motorsports, as she gears up for a major milestone: her first Coca-Cola 600. Katherine who has raced in INDYCAR since 2006 and qualified for all four Indianapolis 500s she’s entered, holds the record for the fastest qualifying speed by a woman at the Indy 500 (set in 2023) and has seven top-10 finishes in 47 INDYCAR starts.
She’s also competing across series, including the No. 11 Chevrolet for HMD Motorsports with AJ Foyt Racing and the No. 78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports, and previously raced the BetMGM Xfinity event at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May 2025.
She is preparing for “The Double,” an 1,100-mile, one-day challenge that pairs the Indianapolis 500 with NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600—NASCAR’s longest Cup Series race and now in its 67th year. Katherine is the first woman in history to attempt the Double and the sixth driver ever to try it, following John Andretti, Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch, and Kyle Larson; Stewart remains the only driver to complete every lap of both races (in 2001).
