CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Trees are more than beautiful - they improve health, reduce extreme heat, clean our air, manage stormwater, lower energy costs, and strengthen neighborhoods. TreesCharlotte’s Treesilience Initiative focuses on tree equity, ensuring every Charlotte resident has access to the benefits that trees provide, regardless of where they live.
Treesilience is currently serving the Greenville and Historic Hoskins neighborhoods, where tree canopy is below the citywide average. This is not just a tree planting program. Treesilience is a multi-year investment that combines education, neighborhood engagement, tree planting, mature canopy preservation, and long-term tree care.
Residents can receive free residential tree plantings, with TreesCharlotte volunteers planting the trees and providing follow-up care. Eligible homeowners may also qualify for free Mature Canopy Care, including assessments and assistance with hazardous trees, helping preserve Charlotte’s existing tree canopy.
