Xander’s Acts of Kindness Foundation: Creating joy for kids with cancer

Xander’s Acts of Kindness Foundation: Creating joy for kids with cancer Xander's Acts of Kindness Foundation brings magic, smiles, and support to pediatric cancer patients in Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - When Denise received the devastating news that her seven-year-old son, Xander, had a brain tumor, she refused to let his diagnosis steal his childhood. Even in the midst of intensive treatments, this devoted mother turned hardship into hope, filling Xander’s final eight and a half months with pure joy through a personalized “Fun Calendar” designed to make him smile every single day.

Inspired by her son’s vibrant spirit and his love for life’s happy surprises, Denise founded Xander’s Acts of Kindness Foundation in July 2022 to bring that same light to other pediatric oncology patients in Charlotte. Partnering directly with social workers at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital, the foundation specifically supports children from low-income families. By tailoring unique acts of kindness to fulfill special dreams and coordinate joyful experiences, the foundation helps restore the wonder, surprises, and simple fun of childhood.

Xander’s Acts of Kindness Foundation is one of four local nonprofit beneficiaries for this year’s highly anticipated Chefs Against Cancer event. Taking place on Saturday, October 3, the gala will showcase culinary creations from ten of Charlotte’s premier chefs, with all proceeds directly benefiting local cancer organizations.
