13th Annual South End Shuffle 5K & mile run returns to Wooden Robot Brewery The 13th Annual South End Shuffle 5K & Mile Run welcomes more than 1,500 runners to celebrate local businesses and raise funds for Charlotte nonprofits.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - The South End community is lacing up for a beloved tradition as founders Ron and Silvia Skufca bring back the 13th Annual South End Shuffle 5K & Mile Run on Saturday, Sept. 12, starting and finishing outside Wooden Robot Brewery. The 1-Mile begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9:00 a.m.

Founded in 2013 by South End attorney and former UVA runner Ron Skufca, the event was created to drive foot traffic to local businesses, bring neighbors together, and give back. What started with 200 participants has grown into a staple drawing over 1,500 runners and generating more than $80,000 for local charities, including the Purple Promise to End Melanoma, the Dan Wade Memorial Scholarship, and West Blvd Ministry.

Open to everyone from competitive athletes to casual walkers and families, the event also doubles as a neighborhood celebration. Participants can enjoy early specials from South End shops, a live DJ, and a post-race party at Wooden Robot until 11:30 a.m. Registration includes an event shirt, a finisher medal, and a post-race Wooden Robot Blonde Ale (21+) or a scoop from Golden Cow Creamery for the kids.
