CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Calling all Dolly Parton fans: Are you ready for a battle of the rhinestones?
The Carolina Theatre in Uptown Charlotte is holding a Dolly Parton lookalike contest on Friday, Sept. 25, ahead of its screening of Parton’s 1980s comedy classic “9 to 5.”
Think you’ve got the hair, the style, the big personality to be named the best Dolly Parton lookalike? Come strut your stuff at the Dolly lookalike contest on Friday before the 7 p.m. movie screening.
QC Life host Jana Angel -- a.k.a. Dolly’s biggest fan -- will host the contest.
The Carolina Theatre says there will be “big prizes” for the best Dolly-inspired looks.

⭐ Friday, 9/25 is Dolly Parton Day
In North Carolina’s Mecklenburg County, and around the country, Friday, Sept. 25 has been lovingly deemed Dolly Parton Day to honor the late country music star and actor.
The date, 9/25, is meant to commemorate Parton’s iconic “9 to 5″ film, of which one of her most famous songs is also titled.
The beloved 80-year-old superstar died in August after a brief battle with cancer.
While well known for her musical gift, loud style, on-screen talent, and never-ending charm, Dolly Parton was also a passionate philanthropist devoted to improving the lives of others.

One of Parton’s initiatives was Imagination Library, which delivers free books to children aged 5 and younger. The program serves children around the world, including thousands of children annually in Gaston County, North Carolina.
The singer-songwriter, who is the third-most Grammy-nominated artist in history, is known for her hit songs “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “9 to 5.”
In addition to “9 to 5,” Parton also acted in 1980s films “Steel Magnolias,” “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” “Rhinestone,” and more.
