CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Mecklenburg County has officially proclaimed September 25 as Dolly Parton Day - a playful date (9/25) honoring the music legend’s iconic anthem, “9 to 5″. The proclamation celebrates much more than her beloved catalog, paying tribute to Dolly’s cultural impact, philanthropic heart, and dedication to childhood literacy. In that generous spirit, the county is encouraging residents to celebrate by doing a “Dolly Good Deed,” inspiring community members across Charlotte to give back in fun, meaningful ways.
Taking that mission to the stage, celebrity drag entertainer Buff Faye and Charlotte’s local drag performers are hosting the Night of 1,000 Dollys on Friday, September 25, at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille (6:30 PM seating, 8:00 PM showtime). Guests are encouraged to show up in full country-glam fashion - think giant blonde wigs, fringe, and rhinestones - for an evening blending entertainment, joy, and philanthropy.
Event proceeds will directly benefit three causes true to Dolly’s heart: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Charlotte LGBTQ History, Visibility & Beautification Coalition.
