CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - Sara Rubens from Seed to Sanctuary joins QC Life to show how to plant garlic for a spring harvest. Grocery store garlic may be treated to prevent sprouting, so choose seed garlic instead. Plant the cloves, keep them watered and covered, and place them on a porch or another spot where they won’t become saturated by rain.
Hardneck garlic also grows green scapes, which can be sautéed and enjoyed. With a little care through the winter, your garlic should be ready to harvest around June.
